In My Mailbox(#4)

In My Mailbox is hosted by The Story Siren. Go check her out!

I seem to be rather lazy lately. Neither updating my blog or reading. Though I do tend to check out books but most are going back unread. I'm trying to shape up! I didn't meet my goal amount of books for January, a little disappointed in myself. Just means I have to really get into gear and step it up some. Was 2 books short of my goal of 10 books a month, which would evenly come out to 120 books at the end of the year. Just means one month I need to read 2 more books than the required 10.

Also I haven't even been checking out for books that are required for the challenges I'm doing. I know some of the challenges are only 20 books of a certain genre but still what if I somehow don't read 20 shifter books or vampire related books? Which in all honestly, would be shocking since most of my books are paranormal related. But just to be safe, I need to pay attention to what I'm reading!!!

Anyways, I went to the library the other day and let myself get lost in the books. I checked out a mother load!!! It was quite relaxing, usually I don't wander around the library. I just go in and go to the place where they keep the books people requested at; never stopping in sections to see if they already have the book. But, I did that day. It was quite nice.

Betrayed by P.C. Cast
Master of Fire by Angela Knight
Friday Night Bites by Chloe Neill
The Cupcake Queen by Heather Hepler
Kissing Snowflakes by Abby Sher
Branded by Fire by Nalini Singh
Eternal Kiss of Darkness by Jeaniene Frost

I'm most excited to get reading Betrayed and Friday Night Bites. Though I'm also really looking forward to reading Branded by Fire, I've been waiting for a paranormal book where the two main characters are different types of were's! So that should be really fun to read.

I grabbed The Cupcake Queen and Kissing Snowflakes because I'm definitely going to need some recovery from the paranormal world. Its always good to escape into things that aren't real but it can be refreshing to read something that can actually happen. I really do love the title "Kissing Snowflakes".

Hopefully I can get back into the habit of reading and blogging. Let me out of this lazy period of my life!!! Arrgh!

In My Mailbox(#3)

In My Mailbox is hosted by The Story Siren!

It's been awhile since I've book blogged. I haven't been reading lately either, I got put on some anxiety medicine and lately I just don't feel like reading. My mind is soo empty lately, that you could probably hear wind blowing up there. Reading for me is something to calm me down and to take me out of my current world but lately I've been really relaxed that I don't feel like doing my usual calming methods. Like reading and taking long baths, which sadly depresses me even more than I thought. Reading lets me escape, while taking baths I would do all my thinking there, weird I know.

I returned a lot of books to the library today that I didn't even touch. I looked over them before I went to the library and decided which ones I didn't want to read or even attempt to read right now. Not because I know I wouldn't enjoy them. Only because I knew I wouldn't read them yet, I seem to be searching for a current genre that I want to read and yet none of the books I had checked out were what I wanted. So I returned em. I think I want to read a young adult book, preferably not about vampires/werewolves. Maybe just some real human drama.

Anyways this is what I checked out today.

Beastly by Alex Flinn
I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore
Gone  by Lisa McMann
Perfect by Sara Shepard
Some Girls Bite by Chloe Neill

I'm really excited to read Beastly and I Am Number Four. I thought I'd read them before the movie came out because I can't seem to read a book after I've seen the movie and plus I'm dying to see both of those movies, that I can't resist temptation to find how both of them end. Hopefully the books/movies won't disappoint me.

Also very excited to read Perfect though I'm already watching the TV show. Though the books and show isn't really all that similar, I'm just dying to know who A is. And if there is two A's texting the girls. Though I think the show might be getting close to revealing who it is, but I won't say just in-case others are watching the show and haven't caught up. But I definitely love the show! The girls are so pretty!!!

I'll try to be better at reading and blogging more. Really need to get back in the cycle of reading if I want to make my 120 goal this year. That's 10 books a month. Read only 5 so far and the month is already half way over. Need to get my butt in gear!!! I'm slacking majorly!

Reading mojo come back to me!!!

Review: A Certain Wolfish Charm by Lydia Dare

I'm little behind in blogging and keeping up with weekly meme's. I've had a ton of doctors appointments, since I just recently got insurance again. I've been to the doctor twice, the dentist once, and the eye doctor also once. I have to visit all three of them again later in the month. Its crazy.

My teeth feel so raw! Though I'm happy to have insurance again! Now if I get sick, everything will be okay.

Also, I've started running 3 times a week. I now go to bed early so I will have enough energy to crawl out of bed and kill myself on a short run. I usually blog really late at night, cause thats when I finish reading a book and like to blog when all the information is still fresh on my mind; def. cuts into my blogging time now that I go to bed early.

Anyways, I finished this book a couple days ago but I was to tired to give my opinion.

A Certain Wolfish Charm by Lydia Dare

4/5 stars.

Lily Rutledge lives a simple, happy life. She takes care of her nephew, Oliver York (Earl of Maberley), whose parent's died in a tragic carriage accident; leaving the Duke of Blackmoor, Simon Westfield his "legal guardian". Yet Simon is anything but a guardian to Oliver, which leaves Lily furious, especially now that some odd things have been happening to Oliver.

Lily has previously tried contacting the Duke with letters but all he sends back is money. Lily decides if he isn't even bothering to read her letters she'll just show up at his home where he can't ignore her.

The last thing Simon expected to find in his Hampshire retreat was Lily Rutledge, especially with the full moon coming in just a couple days. He immediately hides in his office even knowing she has seen him and has ordered his butler to send her back where she came from. Yet Lily doesn't give up, she bangs on his door and shouts for him to come out. She then decides its better if his penetrating grey eyes weren't focusing on her, and that she'll just talk there. Lily tells the Duke that she believes something isn't right with the way Oliver is developing.

Simon then yanks the door open, having Lily fall into his arms....over and over again. ;)

----------------------------------------------

I really enjoyed this book. When I first started it I didn't think I'd get used to the "Your Grace" this and that, but I actually found the setting of the book rather fun and enlightening.

I would have given the books 5 stars if it didn't seem like their relationship wasn't so BAM, I LOVE YOU! Okay, it wasn't like that but they got together rather fast.

Also, I didn't like Simon grabbing her one moment and then shoving her away the next. He would say one thing and then do the complete opposite, though I guess that could be kinda cute but annoying at times. Lily did the same exact thing in some parts of the book. So I guess they are meant to be.

The cover is very nice. The guy has a hairy chest, hehe. How come they rarely show the guys face and always the girls face? I'm pretty sure 90% of the readers want to see the guys face. Another thing I think in the book it said her hair was auburn, doesn't really look auburn on the cover. Though the girls eyes are very pretty and her skin looks very soft.

There was one thing in the book I didn't know what it was. If I wasn't so lazy I'd look it up and get the word for you guys, but I'm feeling extra lazy today. I just know it was an article of clothing, I believe a part of Simon's clothing.

Loved this quote: ""You will see me, Your Grace," she called. What other woman, he wondered, could make "Your Grace" sound so much like an insult?""

Think I'll definitely buy this book. And would say its a must read!

Ps. Hairy chest. For some reason that is making me laugh! ^^

Enquiring Minds Wants to Know #5

Enquiring Minds is hosted by the sweet Dollycas's Thoughts.

This weeks questions are food related, which are always fun to talk about. Cause who doesn't love food, right?

1. How would you build the perfect sandwich?
2. What is your favorite flavor of potato chips?
3. Now add the perfect beverage to complete this lunch.

My answers:

1. I'm not really a sandwich person, I never was really one before I became a vegetarian either. There is basically only one sandwich I eat. A veggie blt. Fake bacon, lettuce, bread, mustard and sometimes tomatoes. I'm not big on tomatoes. Sometimes I'll toast the bread and the "bacon" has to be crunchy!

2. Favorite potato chip would have to be Lays BBQ chips. Definitely has to be by frito lays because my oldest brothers works there and he'd be offended, haha. Always telling us to buy the chips, but I'm not a big fan of chips either but when I do eat them I usually go for the BBQ flavored chips.

3. I only drink one thing. Water. If I was drinking soda still I would have put coke, but I gave that up last year. So water is the perfect drink for all meals, though I secretly still crave soda, I just have super willpower not to drink it. ;)
