In My Mailbox (#10)

Hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren.

I still have an overhaul of books. And still very little desire to read anything, though when I feel in the mood to read, I take advantage of that and sit down and get lost in a book.

Yet, when I go to the library, I still have this habit of looking at the new book shelf and grabbing a few. I don't know why I do it when I can't even make myself to read. Or even have a little desire to do so. I hate not wanting to read, its a miserable feeling, esp. when I love to read.

I walked out with 6 more books, though luckily I had just dropped off a lot of books I knew I wouldn't even bother opening, even if they are on my TBR list.

3 cook books and 3 young adult books. I honestly don't know if I'll actually "read" read the cookbooks, maybe skim through the recipes and write some down that I would be interested in cooking. Or who knows maybe I'll read page by page. Hopefully they have some pictures, I HATE cookbooks without photos. I'm a very visual person when it comes to cooking, so I like to see what I'm about to "attempt" to make.

In My Mailbox (#9)

Hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren.

I've started to hate reading. Probably because I set myself a goal and am already way behind than I wanted to be. Reading feels like a chore more than a time to enjoy books. Yet, I will finish this goal. I won't stop until I've finished this goal. So reminder to future me in 2012, do NOT set a goal of books! BUT if you must, make it 50 or less!!!

On a funny note, even goodreads, tells me I'm behind!!! Okay, that is a little sad, that a site is telling me to pick up the pace every time I log in!!! I did come up with a schedule to read all the books I have checked out, and I accomplish it, I'll be way ahead of my schedule and can relax a little! No more checking out, close to 30 books!!! No more! I swear...I think. xD

Demon Glass by Rachel Hawkins
Succubus Blues by Richelle Mead

Across The Universe by Beth Revis
Perfect by Sara Shepard
Raziel by Kristina Douglas

I think the only book out of all those I'm excited to read is The Forest of Hands And Teeth. I've checked Perfect out like a billion times already and never gotten to it, though I'm ahead of the books that I'm on cause of the TV series, but I still want to catch up and see if they are changing anything in it.

* I know I haven't done a review in a long time! I will do some soon! I promise. Just let me catch up on all my challenges!!!*

In My Mailbox (#8) - Big Load

Hosted by Kristi from The Story Siren

I haven't done this in forever, so I'm going to just share all the books I got in the last week or two! So here we go!

Twice as Hot by Gena Showalter
Tiger's Curse by Colleen Houck
The Vampire's Bride by Gena Showalter

Spells by Aprilynne Pike
The Iron Queen by Julia Kagawa
Haven by Kristi Cook

Untamed by P.C Cast & Kristen Cast
Deadly Vows by Brenda Joyce
Twice Bitten by Chloe Neill

Matched by Ally Condie
The Summoning by Kelly Armstrong

That's a lot of books. Its not even half of what I have checked out at the moment. I've been really good with my reading lately, must be all the awesome books I'm checking out keeping me in "shape". I'm really excited to read Untamed and Twice Bitten

Also, I think all of those books have amazing covers! Esp. Tiger's Curse and Twice as Hot.

I did already check out Spells and The Iron Queen once before but I was so lazy then and couldn't keep up with the load I had checked out, that they went returned, untouched.

That's it for Tuesday. I'm going to take a peak at some other people's IMM for this week!!

In My Mailbox (#7)

Hosted by the lovely Kristi from The Story Siren.

I did it again. I got lost in the library. I now have a total of 29 books checked out. Eeek! Really now...I need some control or someone to keep me in check when I go into the library. The little self check out machine should start saying things like "Have you finished the other 19 you have at home?" or "Rejected! Rejected! Too many checked out when you have plenty at home to read!!!!"

The Luxe by Anna Godberson
She's No Faerie Princess by Christine Warren
Nightseer by Laurell K. Hamilton
Lament by Maggie Stiefvater

Hexbound by Chloe Neill
This Side of the Grave by Jeaniene Frost (Bought)
Paranormalcy by Kiersten White

Never Cry Werewolf by Heather Davis
Numbers by Rachel Ward
Kiss Me Kill Me by Lauren Henderson
Pegasus by Robin McKinley

I, also got The Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan. Oh and after I left the library another one of my books came in! One I really wanted, Archangel's Consort by Nalini Singh...I have some time before I have to pick it up, so I'll leave there so I won't be tempted to read it ahead of all the others.

I'm not going to lie, I think the cover for Lament by Maggie Stiefvater is horrible. Its neither attractive or eye catching at all. The other covers are either amazing or nice. I love the cover for Pegasus and The Luxe; I would definitely wear a dress like that, but I don't think I could ever imagine walking in it or breathing for that matter!

I think I need to stop checking out books for a long time and sit back and read the ones I got. I also need to get to reviewing the books I've read. I really wouldn't mind checking out a ton of books if I also returned some books or the equal amount I check out. Instead of piling my stack of books so high, that I can't keep up.

Hope I don't hit a reading speed bump and fall out of reading for a week or two. That would be absolutely horrible! Esp. with all these books I have.

So, what did you get this week?

In My Mailbox(#6)

IMM is hosted by The Story Siren.

I'm always so tempted to look around my library now, even when I don't have much time or whenever someone else drove me to the library; which in this case...I left my dad in the car waiting for awhile. I just get so absorbed by the library that I can't escape. I feel like I never spend enough time looking. Still I can't get over my shyness/anxiety that people are looking at all the books I'm grabbing.

While absorbed in searching for more books at the library, I ended up grabbing a book that I didn't even remember I read. Well actually, first I grabbed the second book in the series and I opened to read the description and check if it listed other books in the series. Found out it was book number two, so I found book number one and I thought "Oh, this book is on my to reads list! Lucky!!" To bad it was really on my have read list! ^^

Here are the books I got this time:

Blue Fire by Janice Hardy
Secondhand Charm by Julie Berry
The Iron Queen by Julie Kagawa

Hawksmaid by Kathryn Lasky
The Unidentified by Rae Mariz
Vampire Rising by Jason Henderson

Reviews Coming Soon!!!!

In My Mailbox(#5)

In My Mailbox is hosted by The Story Siren.

Got another load of books from the library. Also I stopped by a local bookstore and used the rest of my credit and got some used books. I currently have 16 books checked out! And plenty that I own/borrowed to read! Eeek!

Recently when I go to the library, I have actually been looking around. Grabbing book after book. When I went awhile ago, I had so many that I could barely hold them all!!

Siren Song by Cat Adams
Spells by Aprilynne Pike
Touching Darkness by Jaime Rush

Thirst No. 3 by Christopher Pike
Heist Society by Ally Carter
Size 12 Is Not Fat by Meg Cabot

Pride by Rachel Vincent (Bought)
Perfect Blend by Sue Margolis
Prey by Rachel Vincent (Bought)

At Grave's End by Jeaniene Frost (Bought/Read)
Diet Drama by Nancy Redd
One Foot in the Grave by Jeaniene Frost (Bought/Read)

That is my lovely load for the week or two. I don't think I'll go wandering through the library any time soon, since I'm overloaded with books. Only ones I'll pick up is the ones I have on request.

Sadly when I was linking the book titles to their goodread pages I discovered Siren Song is book number TWO, in the series. I haven't read book number one yet, so that one will go unread. I hate when I can't tell what number a book is in a series or if the book doesn't say there is other books before it.

Just looked up Blood Song which is the first book before Siren Song. My library doesn't have it, nor does the other libraries linked to it. Though luckily, its on order; who knows how long that actually takes to come in. But seriously, again have book 2 but not one? *Sigh* If I was a librarian, I'd be checking to see if we have all the first books of series, not the second book.

Did some searching on my libraries website and found a Purchase Suggestion Link. I wonder if there is a limit for suggestions? Or would they think I'm mad for all the books I'd love to request them to get? We'll see. I'll send in a couple requests and pray they are answered! Requested Stray by Rachel Vincent so far, will look through my too-read list and see which book has been on there forever and suggest it to them.

Also, when I was at the book store, I had thought I had book 1 & 2 of the Night Huntress series, sadly I was wrong again. Which also brings me to the Shifter series, I thought I grabbed 2 & 3, I didn't...of course. I can never find book one, neither new or used. But there were three books there and I grabbed two of them like a crazed book fan(sadly only had enough for 4 books with my credit) does when books she has been looking forever, discovers them there. My library has Prey, Shift, and Alpha. All the later books in the series. Come on! How am I supposed to start the series if you don't even have book one?! They do have the books for ebooks, but I can't read books on a computer, I have to be able to hold the book and turn the page!!

Thats all for In My Mailbox :D

In My Mailbox(#4)

In My Mailbox is hosted by The Story Siren. Go check her out!

I seem to be rather lazy lately. Neither updating my blog or reading. Though I do tend to check out books but most are going back unread. I'm trying to shape up! I didn't meet my goal amount of books for January, a little disappointed in myself. Just means I have to really get into gear and step it up some. Was 2 books short of my goal of 10 books a month, which would evenly come out to 120 books at the end of the year. Just means one month I need to read 2 more books than the required 10.

Also I haven't even been checking out for books that are required for the challenges I'm doing. I know some of the challenges are only 20 books of a certain genre but still what if I somehow don't read 20 shifter books or vampire related books? Which in all honestly, would be shocking since most of my books are paranormal related. But just to be safe, I need to pay attention to what I'm reading!!!

Anyways, I went to the library the other day and let myself get lost in the books. I checked out a mother load!!! It was quite relaxing, usually I don't wander around the library. I just go in and go to the place where they keep the books people requested at; never stopping in sections to see if they already have the book. But, I did that day. It was quite nice.

Betrayed by P.C. Cast
Master of Fire by Angela Knight
Friday Night Bites by Chloe Neill
The Cupcake Queen by Heather Hepler
Kissing Snowflakes by Abby Sher
Branded by Fire by Nalini Singh
Eternal Kiss of Darkness by Jeaniene Frost

I'm most excited to get reading Betrayed and Friday Night Bites. Though I'm also really looking forward to reading Branded by Fire, I've been waiting for a paranormal book where the two main characters are different types of were's! So that should be really fun to read.

I grabbed The Cupcake Queen and Kissing Snowflakes because I'm definitely going to need some recovery from the paranormal world. Its always good to escape into things that aren't real but it can be refreshing to read something that can actually happen. I really do love the title "Kissing Snowflakes".

Hopefully I can get back into the habit of reading and blogging. Let me out of this lazy period of my life!!! Arrgh!

In My Mailbox(#3)

In My Mailbox is hosted by The Story Siren!

It's been awhile since I've book blogged. I haven't been reading lately either, I got put on some anxiety medicine and lately I just don't feel like reading. My mind is soo empty lately, that you could probably hear wind blowing up there. Reading for me is something to calm me down and to take me out of my current world but lately I've been really relaxed that I don't feel like doing my usual calming methods. Like reading and taking long baths, which sadly depresses me even more than I thought. Reading lets me escape, while taking baths I would do all my thinking there, weird I know.

I returned a lot of books to the library today that I didn't even touch. I looked over them before I went to the library and decided which ones I didn't want to read or even attempt to read right now. Not because I know I wouldn't enjoy them. Only because I knew I wouldn't read them yet, I seem to be searching for a current genre that I want to read and yet none of the books I had checked out were what I wanted. So I returned em. I think I want to read a young adult book, preferably not about vampires/werewolves. Maybe just some real human drama.

Anyways this is what I checked out today.

Beastly by Alex Flinn
I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore
Gone  by Lisa McMann
Perfect by Sara Shepard
Some Girls Bite by Chloe Neill

I'm really excited to read Beastly and I Am Number Four. I thought I'd read them before the movie came out because I can't seem to read a book after I've seen the movie and plus I'm dying to see both of those movies, that I can't resist temptation to find how both of them end. Hopefully the books/movies won't disappoint me.

Also very excited to read Perfect though I'm already watching the TV show. Though the books and show isn't really all that similar, I'm just dying to know who A is. And if there is two A's texting the girls. Though I think the show might be getting close to revealing who it is, but I won't say just in-case others are watching the show and haven't caught up. But I definitely love the show! The girls are so pretty!!!

I'll try to be better at reading and blogging more. Really need to get back in the cycle of reading if I want to make my 120 goal this year. That's 10 books a month. Read only 5 so far and the month is already half way over. Need to get my butt in gear!!! I'm slacking majorly!

Reading mojo come back to me!!!

In My Mailbox(#2)

In My Mailbox is hosted by The Story Siren.

Here's what I got!

Crescendo by Becca Fitzpatrick - I can vaguely remember what the first one was about, so hopefully I don't have to go back and reread it, just to follow it. At least I can remember its about fallen angels ;)
Dark Embrace by Brenda Joyce - I was looking for a new author to pick up and I found hers right around the other books I picked up, so I'll be giving Brenda a try!
First Drop of Crimson by Jeaniene Frost - Of course I had to pick up this series! My library had the first one in the series, but oddly I didn't to read about that vampire. I wanted to read about Spade more.

Midnight Sins by Cynthia Eden - Very excited to read this one after this first book was so amazing! And doesn't the guy on the cover just look hot!!!
Playing With Fire by Gena Showalter - This seems to be very interesting, something right up my alley, I could use a change from all the vampires/were-wolves.

In My Mailbox(#1)

This is my first In My Mailbox, though I can't really consider it my mailbox, but I guess in my library box. In My Mailbox is hosted by the ever popular, The Story Siren. Its a fun way of seeing what everyone got this week; not sure if I'll post it every Monday because I do visit the library on random days or sometimes multiple times a week.

Anyways this week I brought home a load of books!! I always feel slightly embarrassed when I'm carrying the manila folders they put requested books in, I rarely do ever see someone else carrying as many books as myself. I also, always wonder what the librarians think of me, I've never actually openly said hello or talked to them, though I swear one gives me an evil look or she just looks like she is giving me an evil look. This evil librarian today helped me check out a book that refused to scan and I said so nicely "Thank you! Have a nice day." and she just looked at me, so I just went on my way. Haha.

Hunting Ground by Patricia Briggs (Alpha & Omega #2) (Goodreads)
Kiss of a Demon King by Kreseley Cole (Immortals After Dark #7) (Goodreads)
A Certain Wolfish Charm by Lydia Dare (Westfield Brothers #1) (Goodreads)
The Devil You Know by Jenna Black (Morgan Kingsley #2) (Goodreads)
Unwind by Neil Shusterman (Unwind #1) (Goodreads)
The Ambassador's Mission by Trudi Canavan (Traitor Spy Trilogy, #1) (Goodreads)
Fade by Lisa McMann (Dream Catcher #2) (Goodreads)

Out of the 7 above books, I think I'm mostly looking forward to Kiss of a Demon King and The Ambassador's Mission. Most of the second books in those series, I read book #1 MONTHS ago. I'm trying to stick to my word and go to the next book in the series, instead of completely forgetting about them; well honestly I didn't forget them, they are just series that really didn't WOW me, but at-least I'm getting to them, right?

On a side not, when I arrived home from the library with my dad, we noticed a little brown dog in our yard. I jumped out of the car and called to her and was very glad she was wearing a collar. So I make the call, a lady answers and I tell her I have her dog. She was like "You have my dog?" I was like "Yes, I have your dog, I found her on my street." I then tell her where I live and what color the dog is, I knew exactly what breed the dog was because my brother and his wife own the same breed, but the name escaped me when I was trying to describe the dog. She goes "Oh that isn't my dog. Its my son's girlfriends dog blah blah blah." As my dad is on the phone talking to her, since I literally suck with directions, a truck pulls up and its the son for the dog. He says thanks and I return him to her; I do wish at that moment I would have said "You need to put your own number on your dogs tag, not on someone else's. Also consider making another tag where the phone number is visible on the front not on the back, scratched in." Oh well, at least I did my good deed for the year, though honestly I would always pick up and try to return animals to their owners, I feel the need to do that so if ever a chance one of my pets goes missing, someone returns the favor and reunites me with my little babies.

(Its official I can't find a picture that even resembles the dog I found, but later the breeds name came back to me, schnauzer.)
