Enquiring Minds Wants to Know #3

Enquiring Minds is hosted by Dollycas's Thoughts.

This week there is only one question, since everyone is so busy with the holidays. I'm semi busy, my online game is having a great event and is a great time to level up, did that sound totally nerdy? Hehe. Also, I need to paint my nails and fix my eyebrows for church tomorrow with the family, so I can look good; get all beautified.  Along with baking peanut butter cookies, rice krispies treats, and oreo truffles for Christmas!

The question is: Share with us a favorite childhood holiday moment?

My Answer: The best Christmas for me had to be when I finally got an indoor cat. Don't get me wrong, I've had past cats but my dad is a clean freak and hates pet hair that I was only allowed outside cats, which wasn't so bad because all my cats were mostly caught by me and tamed; so it worked out. Though I always wanted a cat to live inside and since the others were so used to living outside they preferred it than being inside. Yet, I worked and worked on my dad to allow me to have a indoor cat and I got one in 2004.

My mom and I went to a local animal shelter, and I found her almost instantly. In the spirit of Christmas I named her Belle. At the shelter she was so calm and loved sitting on my lap, which I absolutely loved because thats what I wanted, a lap cat. Thats not what I got, I got a tornado of a cat. She was always hyper and wanting to be with people, but never was she a lap cat. She tricked me into adopting her but I don't regret it one bit.

That had to be my best Christmas ever. Though sadly Belle died 6 months after I adopted her, she had feline leukemia, we were told the day after they were processing her for adoption, I never did have to think about not adopting her, I knew I would adopt her no matter what she had. She was the one, the ultimate Christmas gift. Belle gave me amazing memories and helped me through a lot during those 6 months.

Some memories with Belle:

  • She liked to take baths, like she hated to be separated from me and she would try to open the door all the time so I just let her in the bathroom with me and she'd hop into the tub with me. My parents thought she was the craziest cat ever for that!
  • Belle hated to be held and would never sit on my lap but when I was sleeping she would sleep on my head.
  • When someone would go to the bathroom, she would stick her paws under the door; thats one of my dad's fondest memories with her.
  • Belle was fast, like super fast, we had to watch out for her when we opened any door because she'd zoom past you trying to go with you!

What a beautiful cat! I lost a cat to feline leukemia too. He was only 1.5 years old when he died. It's so hard to lose a pet, but all the memories they leave behind make having them, even if for a short time, worth it!
